Abstract
Two insects known for their damage as banders Carmenta theobromae Busk (1910) (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae) and driller Simplicivalva ampliaphilobia Davis, Gentili-Poole & Mitter (2008) (Lepidoptera, Cossidae), affect the guava’s crop in the main productive core in Colombia: Hoya del Río Suárez - HRS-, between Santander and Boyacá. With incidences of 98% and 94% respectively, in severe attacks they can kill the tree. It is a priority to determine alternatives framed in Integrated Pest Management -MIP-, with emphasis on strategies of biological control agents -ACB-, through the search, evaluation and recommendation of biological, cultural and chemical management alternatives, purpose of this degree work. The alternatives registered for these pests in the specialized literature and those reported by the producers assigned to the national fruit committee were prioritized. The alternatives were evaluated on the index of dead larvae of each pest, both in the field and in the laboratory, in a unifactorial design by randomized complete blocks. The size of the larvae (length) was blocked. The management alternatives selected in the laboratory phase were Spinosad (mixture of Espinosa A and D); S-1,2 di (ethoxycarbonyl) ethyl 0,0-dimethyl phosphorodithioate (chemical management, positive control); Lecanicillium lecanii; Beauveria bassiana; B. bassiana and B. brongniartii mix, and distilled water (negative control). For the field, the two best laboratory alternatives for each pest were selected, the positive and negative controls, and the cultural management consitent in the pruning and silting of the trees was added. The best alternatives for the bander were B. bassiana and the cultural management with pruning and silvering. For the driller, the best alternatives were Spinosad and cultural management, although they did not have statistically significant differences with the chemical management. The synergistic use of commercial and cultural biological alternatives is recommended. The use of chemical synthesis alternatives is discouraged because of its harmful effects on health, the environment and the agroecosystem.
