Mejoramiento de la escritura en inglés como lengua extranjera en niños con Síndrome de Down mediada por las TIC
Abstract
Se reporta un proyecto de investigación cuyo objetivo fue identificar si las herramientas WEB 2.0, empleadas como mediación pedagógica, mejoran las competencias escritoras en lengua inglesa de los niños con Síndrome de Down. En el estudio se aplicó la investigación cualitativa a partir de la observación e interpretación de comportamientos y resultados de los talleres, a través del enfoque “Estudio de caso” se individualizaron alcances y limitaciones de tres niños con estas necesidades educativas especiales; dos de un colegio privado y otro de un colegio público de la ciudad de Duitama, Boyacá.
La herramienta empleada fue la aplicación Duolingo, muy popular en el aprendizaje del inglés. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron identificar que los niños que pertenecen a un nivel socioeconómico más alto, tienen mayor dominio de las TIC; sin embargo, se desmotivaron y no se mantuvo su atención con facilidad de las actividades propuestas.
Además, a pesar de emplear la misma metodología y material, el avance de cada niño fue diferente, siendo significativo el progreso de los dos niños que inicialmente presentaban mayor nivel de escritura y más dominio del computador. A research project is reported whose objective was to identify the WEB 2.0 tools, used as pedagogical mediation, improving the English language skills of Children with Down syndrome. In the study qualitative research was applied based on the observation and interpretation of behaviors and results of the workshops, through the “case study” approach, the scope and limitations of three children with these special educational needs are individualized; two from a private school and other from a public school in the city of Duitama, Boyacá.
The tool used was the Duolingo Aplication, very popular in learning English. The results obtained allowed us to identify that children who belong to a higher socioeconomic level, have a greater command of ICT; however they were demotivated and their attention was not easily maintained from the proposed activities. In addition, despite using the same methodology and material, the progress of each child was different, being significant the progress of the two children who initially had a higher level of writing and more mastery of the computer.
