Abstract
inferior y tren superior. Eng: Introduction: there are alarming figures in relation to overweight and obesity, which are determined by the energy imbalance between calories consumed and spent, as well as a decrease in physical activity. Objective: to determine the effects of a concurrent training program in BMI, % MG and FM in university students who are overweight or obese.
Subjects and methods: Pre-experimental design, the sample composed of 12 young people
between 18 and 22 years (19 ± 1.86). The BMI was evaluated by weight and height, the%
of MG was evaluated using the Yuhasz equation (1974) and the FM was estimated using 1
RM, performed in the previous and subsequent tests. The subjects completed a concurrent
training program 3 times per week 1 hour per day, for 10 weeks; It consisted of 5 minutes
of warm-up, 25 minutes of strength exercises, 25 minutes of aerobic exercise and 5 minutes
of lengthening. Inferential analysis, Shapiro Wilk test and T tests for related samples, the
statistical significance was established at a 95% confidence level (p <0.05). Results: After
the intervention, a reduction in the% of MG was observed (Pre: 18.4 ± 3.84 / Post: 14.35 ±
2.78 p <0.000). Although there was a reduction in BMI, it was not statistically significant
(Pre: 28.67 ± 2.7 / Post: 28.18 ± 2.38 p <0.087). In addition, the FM of the lower train
increased 40,8% and in the upper train increased 22,9% of 1RM of the different exercises
carried out with a significance value of (p <0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that 10
weeks of concurrent training, three times per week and 60 minutes per session with strength
and aerobic exercises managed to reduce the% of MG, there was a reduction in BMI that
was not statistically significant, improving the anthropometric profile and an increase in the
FM of the lower and upper trains in general was observed.
