Estrategias lingüísticas para fortalecer la pronunciación en inglés y disminuir la transferencia fonética negativa del español hablado en el municipio de La Paz, Cesar
Abstract
Eng: The foreign language learning process requires learners to be able to process linguistic data and use that knowledge in communicative interaction situations. To achieve effective oral communication, it is necessary that the pronunciation of each of the segments that make up the spoken chain is done with the proper articulatory habits, otherwise oral comprehension and speech intelligibility may be compromised. Traditionally, however, the skills that allude to the written component have been privileged, leaving aside the oral production and the subskill of pronunciation. For this reason, the present research had as its general objective, to implement a didactic sequence with linguistic strategies that allow the strengthening of pronunciation in English, such as communicative subskill, of the 11th grade students of Ciro Pupo Martínez de La Paz (Cesar). The research was framed in a qualitative approach,
specifically in the method of action research. The intervention group was made up of 25 students from the respective grade. The data were collected through participant observation and elicitation, and a pretest and post-test test were applied to measure the progress made.
The information obtained was coded and analyzed through a contrastive phonetic analysis in grids and correlation tables. Among the most relevant results, it was possible to establish that the fricative consonant sounds are strongly influenced by the coastal dialectal variant and that the contexts of half and end of word and syllable are the ones that generate the greatest difficulty when trying to pronounce correctly. The intervention process made it possible to strengthen pronunciation, reduce negative phonetic transfer phenomena and generate phonetic awareness among the participants.
